IS YOGA FOR ME?

YES!  Yoga is for EVERY BODY!  No matter your age, gender, shape, size, background, or experience level, YOU can do yoga.  Remember that everyone shows up to their first class as a beginner, so if you feel unsure or uncomfortable know that you are not alone.  Just drop your expectations, come as you are, and discover yoga’s benefits for yourself!

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR CLASS?

  • Sign up ahead of time on our EventBrite page and arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the event.

  • Hydrate

  • Try not to eat a big meal at least 2 hours before you arrive

  • COME AS YOU ARE.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING AND WEAR TO CLASS?

Bring a yoga mat, towel, and water.   We recommend wearing  moisture-wicking fabric that allows you to move freely.  Yoga is done barefoot, a space will be provided for your shoes & belongings!  If you need to borrow a mat, no problem!  We have plenty available for your use.

WHAT IF I'M NOT FLEXIBLE, STRONG ENOUGH, HAVE AN INJURY,  AM PREGNANT, OR HAVE A BUSY MIND?

SUPER!  Yoga is not about perfection, and it is not something that requires you to be different than you are right now.  Everything you need to do yoga resides within you already.  We encourage you to inform your instructor if you have a specific injury or are pregnant, but we believe that you are your own best teacher.  Listen to your body's signals throughout the class and modify your practice to support your current energy and skill level.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF YOGA?

Beyond the increased strength, flexibility and balance that you would expect to experience from yoga classes, a regular practice can provide a myriad of other physical, mental and emotional health benefits.  Yoga may help you maintain a healthy weight, improve your posture, enhance your sleep, reduce anxiety, increase self-confidence and basically become a healthier and happier version of yourself!

WHAT IF I ARRIVE LATE, NEED TO LEAVE EARLY, OR HAVE TO CANCEL?

We totally understand that things come up, and we’d rather you leave early or come late than not come at all!  Just let your teacher know your schedule and try to grab a spot near the door if you need to head out before the conclusion of class.

Because event space is limited and require coordination with our hosts, events sales are final.

WHERE DO I BEGIN?

All our classes can be modified to fit your unique level of experience, but you may feel more comfortable beginning with a FOUNDATIONAL FLOW or SLOW FLOW class.  These moderately paced, instructional vinyasa style classes are a wonderful way to familiarize yourself with yoga in a welcoming group setting.  PRIVATE LESSONS are also a great place to start because they provide individualized attention and enable you to ask specific questions.  If you feel ready to jump into a POWER FLOW class, by all means do so!  We just encourage you to listen to your body,  rest if needed, and above all take yourself lightly and have fun!

WHAT IS POWER YOGA (AND IS IT AS HARD AS IT SOUNDS)?

Power Yoga is a dynamic, yet completely accessible form of meditation in motion.  This style links physical postures with your breath to create a flow or vinyasa.  Power Yoga does NOT mean “no pain; no gain.”  It is about connecting with your inner abundance of strength, challenging your habitual patterns, and trusting your intuitive guide.  Sometimes it is more powerful to modify a posture or take a breath in Child’s Pose than it is to muscle through and disregard your body’s signals to rest.  This style of yoga is based on the teachings of Baron Baptiste, and you can read more about it and the man in the bandana here :

MOST IMPORTANTLY, COME AS YOU ARE, NOT AS YOU THINK YOU SHOULD BE!
